Tapping America's Potential Our Goal: Double the number of science, technology, engineering and mathematics graduates with bachelor's degrees by 2015.

RESOURCE CENTER > BACK TO ACTION ON U.S. COMPETITIVENESS

To remind policymakers that acting now on improved math and science education is critical to our youth's and our nation's future success, TAP founding member, Business Roundtable, delivered a red lunchbox to every Capitol Hill office. Just as children receive "Back to School" checklists, Congress, too, has a "Back to Work" checklist to help keep America on the cutting edge of science and technology:

  • Strengthen K-12 math and science education programs.
  • Expand undergraduate and graduate science and engineering programs.
  • Double funding for basic research in the physical sciences over ten years.
  • Fix visa and green card programs for highly educated, foreign-born professionals.
  • Extend a strengthened R&D tax credit permanently.
