June 27, 2008 – Fox Business – “Leading Economists Warn That Education Gap Between the U.S. and Industrialized Countries Threatens America's Ability to Compete”
America's failure to keep pace with the education gains of other industrialized countries is creating a serious education gap that will impact our economic prosperity, warned some of the nation's preeminent economists who gathered at a national policy forum convened by Strong American Schools' ED in 08 Chairman Roy Romer and Librarian of Congress Dr. James H. Billington. The forum, Remaining Competitive in a Flat World, featured economists and educators who have studied the economic returns of boosting academic achievement and graduation rates.

June 13, 2008 – Inside Higher Ed – “Boost proposed for science education
On June 12, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies unanimously approved spending increases for agencies including the National Science Foundation and the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology. The $56.8 billion bill was passed in recognition of the nation’s need for increased investments in STEM education.
