Business Leaders Launch New Clearinghouse Dedicated to STEM

Organization creates one-stop online resource for information on STEM education and career opportunities

Washington D.C. - Tapping America's Potential (TAP), a coalition of 16 prominent business and technology associations committed to bolstering the pipeline of U.S. scientists and engineers, today announced a new clearinghouse of information for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students and employees.

“STEM Opportunities,” a one-stop-shop resource available on www.tap2015.org, is complete with up-to-date information to help students learn about financial aid and scholarships and to help individuals working in STEM fields identify job opportunities and networking forums.  Both government and academic institutions will be the source of information for this new clearinghouse.

“STEM Opportunities” is an example of the U.S. business community's ongoing effort to showcase the various opportunities and programs available for scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians across the country and to encourage our nation's budding scientists to pursue careers in these fields,” said Susan Traiman, director of education and workforce policy at the Business Roundtable. “By pooling information and making it easily accessible to students and workers, we hope to reach our goal of doubling the number of math and science graduates by 2015.”

“It is groundbreaking to bring together resources from across the public and private sectors to encourage information exchange,” said Heath Weems, Director of Education and Workforce Policy at the National Association of Manufacturers. “We will continue to work together with our companies, the government and academia to highlight unique STEM education and career opportunities.”
